Craig lives in every one you told about him, including me. But as for asking questions of vets it's kind of like the book Johnny Got His Gun and once he learns how to communicate he can't stop and the revelation is horrible. I'm afraid to ask.

When I see people wearing Veteran hats, I say, "Excuse me," and I offer my hand.

The one time I actually saw someone with POW plates getting ut of his car (as opposed to driving past) I offered my hand. (His wife told me that he was shot down in France during WWII, and that no one had ever offered him a hand before. He wasn't able to talk, but his wife told his story with pride.)

I do not discuss the current war, in specifics; it's politics. What I do say whenever I get the chance is that we MUST support our soldiers because I remember (at age four) seeing, on the news, soldiers coming home from Viet Nam and being attacked by civilians. It really makes me sad that people older than I don't remember that. It was horrifying; how could they forget?

I do boxes at random times of the year for anysoldier.com, not just the holidays. I'm planning one for the holidays. Ms. Leslie, you'd be helping me help our soldiers if there was any book or pamphlet that you could recommend for me to include in the upcoming box. I was going to look for general fiction, but if you know of something that would help a soldier, I'd appreciate a referral (and, of course, I'll let you know what they say). I can also look for two books and send one to a male unit and one to a female unit, if you think that would help more. I value your friendship and, now, I would sure value your advice.
