Ms Leslie's Travel Plans Come Together

Uncle Sam called me yesterday. Well, it wasnt the REAL Uncle Sam. It was one of his helper elves. She made a special call just to me to let me know that my final, real, official, ten-year passport is finished and is to be put in overnight mail back to me today. I was glad to hear that. Not only does it mean I can get across our borders to other exotic and dangerous places; places where the delicate ballet called ice hockey isnt even known, it means that in spite of what some dusty old judges in Kansas or Texas think, my Uncle Sam says I am a girl. Honestly, I am really very proud of him right now, for being so open-minded about the whole thing.

So now, unless North Korea gets all rabid and bathes Asia in plutonium rays, or unless some misguided maven of el Quaeda gets lucky and finds the right end of a stinger missile, its a done deal. Im all set to leave for Thailand next month.

Im making my list of postcards to send once I survive the operation. If youd like a postcard from Thailand, I need you to send me your mailing address. Just drop me an e-mail with your name and address. You can click here to send it to me.

It might seem strange to be asked for your mailing address. Actually, its a marvelous system for me. See, I dont especially care to send postcards to total strangers.. only to those people who know me well enough to know that I present no risk of either stalking or spamming. If you feel uneasy sending me your address, then you probably havent been reading me long enough. See how it works?

BTW, I did get a few get cards when I was in the hospital last time. I really, really enjoyed them. So, just in case you feel like sending me a card, heres what you need to know:

Ms Leslie Smith

c/o Dr Suporn Clinic

938 SUKHUMVIT ROAD

BANGPLASOI, MUANG DISTRICT

CHONBURI, 20000

T H A I L A N D

Mark the letter AIRMAIL, put $0.80 postage on it (1 oz.), and drop it in the mail four to seven days before you want it to arrive in Thailand. My surgery will take place on March 24th (March 25th in Asia), so mail to me can be sent as early as March 20th . Its not unheard of for letters and packages addressed in English to be opened by postal employees who assume that any letter from the USA must contain cash so please cards and letters only. Those mean the most to me anyway.

But whether you plan to send me a card or not, feel free to send me your address for a postcard from Thailand. I need something to keep me busy while I recuperate.
